Sprinter Roof Racks

The SV Sandbar is the Sprinter roof rack we design and build in San Diego. It fits 2007+ Mercedes Sprinter high roof vans in the 144, 170 and 170 EXT wheelbases and mounts to the factory roof rail channels with no drilling. Everything on this page is made to work with it: crossbars, decking panels, the side ladder, and roof rails for vans without factory channels.

144, 170 and 170 EXT

Every kit is 55" wide. The 144 rack is 129" long and weighs 70 lb. The 170 is 169" and 80 lb. The 170 EXT is 185" and 85 lb. Pick your wheelbase on the Sandbar listing. It does not fit low roof Sprinters.

Solar, boards, decking and a ladder

The dual-height crossbars let you run solar on the low position and boards or kayaks on the raised bars above. Add decking panels for a walkable roof, the side ladder to get up there, and extra 55" crossbars to set the deck up your way. The rack also works with most awnings and can carry a rooftop tent.

Install it yourself or at our shop

The Sandbar installs with basic sockets. We install it free at Sandy Vans HQ in San Diego. No factory roof rails on your van? Add Sprinter Roof Rails first. They are what we run under the Sandbar on vans without factory channels.

Questions about Sprinter roof racks

Will the Sandbar fit my 144 or 170?

Yes. It fits 2007+ Mercedes Sprinter high roof vans in 144, 170 and 170 EXT. Choose the kit that matches your wheelbase.

Do I have to drill the roof?

No. The rack mounts into the factory roof rail channels with rail brackets. If your van has no factory rails, add our Sprinter Roof Rails first.

Can I mount solar and a surfboard?

Yes. Solar goes on the lower crossbar position and boards, kayaks or gear go on the raised bars above.

What is the weight limit?

600 lb, evenly distributed across the crossbars.
