A bolt-on gear wall for your swing-away. Fuel, recovery boards and bags ride on the hitch, out of the van.

The KUAT Pivot XD Accessory Hoop with MOLLE Panel bolts straight onto the KUAT Pivot XD and gives you a welded steel MOLLE panel right behind the van. It swings out with the Pivot XD, so your gear moves out of the way of the rear doors along with the bike rack.

Fits the KUAT Pivot XD only. It does not fit the Pivot v3 or other swing-aways.

Fits: KUAT Pivot XD swing-away hitch on any van, including the Mercedes Sprinter. Not compatible: Pivot v3, Pivot v2 or other swing-away hitches.

Why we carry the MOLLE Accessory Hoop

Van storage fills up fast, and the stuff you least want inside (fuel, muddy recovery boards, a shovel) is exactly what the hoop is for. It turns the Pivot XD into a rear carrier for overland gear without taking away the receiver for your bike rack.

How it works

The hoop bolts to the top of the Pivot XD arm with three bolts. It sits above the pivot, so the gear stays tight to the van and swings out with the arm when you open the rear doors. Add the Spare Tire Adapter to the top of the hoop and you can carry a full-size spare there too.

How the weight adds up

The MOLLE panel holds up to 50 lb of gear.
With the Spare Tire Adapter added, the hoop also carries a spare up to 100 lb, and MOLLE gear doesn't reduce that.
The hoop's own 27 lb doesn't count against the Pivot XD. The gear on it does.
With the MOLLE panel and spare tire both maxed out, your rack or cargo in the Pivot XD receiver is limited to 200 lb.

The hoop bolts to the Pivot XD with three bolts. No drilling. Kuat's user guide shows each step.

Tips

Swing the Pivot XD to the open position and pin it with the safety pin first. Kuat says the hoop is easier to fit that way.
The bolt nearest the Pivot XD clasp threads into a pre-installed nut.
Torque the M12 x 120 and both M12 x 130 bolts to 40 Nm (about 30 ft-lb). You'll need a torque wrench for that.

Mistakes to avoid

Ordering the wrong side. Match the hoop to your Pivot XD's swing side.
Overloading the panel. 50 lb max on the MOLLE panel, on-road or off.
Forgetting the total. Gear on the hoop counts toward the Pivot XD's 350 lb limit.
Skipping bolt checks. Recheck the bolts often when you drive rough roads.

How to choose a hitch-mounted gear carrier

1. Does it fit your swing-away?

Bolt-on carriers are made for one specific swing arm.

How to choose: Buy the carrier made for your swing-away. This hoop fits the KUAT Pivot XD only.

2. What gear are you carrying?

MOLLE panels take almost anything with MOLLE straps or a MOLLE bracket: fuel and water packs, traction boards, shovels, bags.

How to choose: Weigh your gear. Keep it under the panel's rating, and confirm your mounts are MOLLE compatible.

3. Do you want a spare tire back there too?

A spare on the rear frees space under the van or inside.

How to choose: If a spare is on the list, pick a carrier that has a spare tire mount made for it.

4. Off-road or pavement?

How to choose: If you drive dirt roads loaded, check the off-road rating on the carrier and the swing-away.
