SV Spare Tire Rack

$1,099.00
Bracket

The SV Spare Tire Rack moves your spare from inside the van to the outside — off the floor, onto the back door where it's accessible without unloading anything.

Aluminum build, powder-coat black finish. Mounts to the two bolt holes in the factory Sprinter 180° rear door hinges as its primary anchor, with a single drilled secondary anchor into the door for the rigidity that carrying a spare tire requires.

Fits: 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 & eSprinter · 144" / 170" / 170" EXT · Driver Side
Requires: Factory 180° rear door hinges (not compatible with 270° hinges)

Not compatible with: Ford Transit · Ram ProMaster · Sprinter NCV3 (2007–2018)

  • Primary mount to factory 180° hinge bolt holes — same attachment method as the SV Port Rack and Starboard Rack
  • Single drilled secondary anchor into the door for rigid spare tire support
  • 100 lb load capacity · Rack weight: 22 lbs
  • Compact footprint — fits a spare tire, and a Boost Box Mini alongside it
  • KUAT bike racks are not compatible — for bike mounting, see the Port Rack or Starboard Rack

Part of the SV rear door system. The Spare Tire Rack is the compact driver-side spare carrier. The SV Port Rack is the full-panel driver-side accessory rack — bikes, Boost Box, fuel cans, and more. The SV Starboard Rack covers the passenger side. Run all three for complete rear-door coverage.

Product Details

The SV Spare Tire Rack moves your spare from inside the van to the outside, where it belongs.

Interior spare tires tax your space — floor area, layout options, and access. The Spare Tire Rack puts the spare on the driver-side rear door where it's out of the way and reachable without unloading the van.

Like the Port Rack and Starboard Rack, the Spare Tire Rack uses the two bolt holes built into the factory 180-degree rear door hinges as its primary attachment. The secondary anchor is a single drilled point into the door — more rigid than the license plate zone used by the Port Rack, and purpose-appropriate for the sustained load of a full-size spare tire.

The footprint is compact by design. It fits a spare tire, and can carry a Boost Box Mini alongside it. KUAT bike rack systems are not compatible — for bike mounting, the Port Rack or Starboard Rack is the right platform.

Two base variants are available: rack only (No Bracket), and rack with the SV Spare Tire Bracket included (W/ Bracket). Both are also available bundled with driver-side 180-degree hinges for VS30s that don't have the hinge upgrade yet.

The Spare Tire Rack shares its primary mounting method with the Port and Starboard Racks: the two bolt holes built into the factory Sprinter 180-degree hinges.

What's different from the Port Rack

The secondary anchor is a single drilled point into the door panel, not the license plate zone. This gives the rack more rigidity for the load profile it's designed for. A spare tire applies concentrated, sustained outward force on the door structure — the drilled anchor provides a more direct connection to the door than a surface-mount approach.

Spare Tire Bracket

If you ordered the W/ Bracket variant, the SV Spare Tire Bracket is included. It attaches to the rack face and holds the spare in position. If you ordered the No Bracket variant, the bracket is available separately.

Spare Tire Rack vs. Port Rack — How to Choose

If you want to carry a spare tire on the back door of your Sprinter, there are two paths within the SV product line. Here's how to pick the right one.

Choose the Spare Tire Rack when:

  • A spare tire is the primary or only thing going on the driver-side door
  • You want the smallest possible footprint
  • You're comfortable with one drilled anchor point for maximum rigidity
  • You want Boost Box Mini storage alongside the spare

Choose the Port Rack + SV Spare Tire Bracket when:

The SV Port Rack with the SV Spare Tire Bracket is the right call when:

  • You also want to carry bikes, a full Boost Box, fuel cans, or other accessories
  • Keeping the door completely undrilled is a priority
  • You want the flexibility to reconfigure your setup over time
  • You plan to build out the driver-side door gradually

For passenger-side coverage

The SV Starboard Rack covers the passenger-side door — 150 lb capacity, no drilling, mounts to the factory Mercedes emblem holes. Run the Spare Tire Rack driver side and the Starboard Rack passenger side for full rear-door coverage.

Do you need 180-degree hinges?

The Spare Tire Rack requires Sprinter 180-degree rear door hinges. If your VS30 or eSprinter doesn't have the driver-side hinge upgrade yet, select one of the hinge bundle variants — everything ships together. Not compatible with 270-degree hinges or NCV3 Sprinters (2007-2018).

With or without the SV Spare Tire Bracket

The SV Spare Tire Bracket is the hardware that physically holds the tire to the rack face. W/ Bracket variants include it. If this is your first order and you don't already have the bracket, select W/ Bracket.

Pre-order checklist

  • Your Sprinter is a 2019+ VS30 or eSprinter (144", 170", or 170" EXT)
  • You have 180-degree rear door hinges — or you're selecting a hinge bundle variant
  • You know whether you need the SV Spare Tire Bracket included
  • You've checked tire and wheel diameter for oversized setups

Questions? Call (619) 812-1903 or email contact@sandyvans.com.

Does the Spare Tire Rack require drilling?
Yes. The rack uses the two bolt holes in the factory 180-degree Sprinter hinges as its primary mount — the same method used by the Port and Starboard Racks. The secondary anchor is a single drilled point into the door panel. This gives the rack the rigidity needed to carry a full-size spare tire, which applies more concentrated force on the door than lighter accessories.
What is the difference between the Spare Tire Rack and mounting a spare on the Port Rack?
The Spare Tire Rack is smaller and purpose-built for a spare tire. It drills one point into the door for a more rigid secondary mount. The Port Rack is a full accessory panel — larger, compatible with bikes and larger storage boxes, and no-drill (it uses the license plate zone instead of drilling). If a spare tire is your primary or only rear-door item, the Spare Tire Rack is the cleaner and more purpose-built fit. If you also want to carry bikes, a full Boost Box, or other accessories, the Port Rack with the SV Spare Tire Bracket is more versatile.
Can I mount a KUAT bike rack on the Spare Tire Rack?
No. The Spare Tire Rack is sized specifically for a spare tire. Its footprint is too compact for KUAT bike rack systems. For bike mounting, the Port Rack or Starboard Rack with the KUAT Piston SR (vertical mount) or Piston Pro X is the right setup.
Does the Spare Tire Rack work with the Boost Box Mini?
Yes. The Boost Box Mini can mount alongside a spare tire on the rack. The full-size Boost Box does not fit — the Spare Tire Rack's footprint is designed around the spare tire as the primary item.
What is the difference between the 'No Bracket' and 'W/ Bracket' variants?
The SV Spare Tire Bracket is the hardware that mounts the tire itself to the rack face. The 'W/ Bracket' variant includes it — everything you need arrives in one order. The 'No Bracket' variant is the rack only, useful if you already have the SV Spare Tire Bracket or want to order it separately.
What year Sprinters does the Spare Tire Rack fit?
The Spare Tire Rack fits 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 and eSprinter — 144", 170", and 170" Extended wheelbase. It requires the factory 180-degree rear door hinges.
Will it fit my NCV3 Sprinter (2007–2018)?
No. The NCV3 Sprinter uses a different hinge design and door structure. The Spare Tire Rack is not compatible with NCV3 models, even with aftermarket 180-degree hinges installed.
Does the Spare Tire Rack work with 270-degree hinges?
No. Like the Port and Starboard Racks, the Spare Tire Rack mounts to the two bolt holes built into the 180-degree hinges. Those holes are not present on 270-degree hinges. If you have 270-degree hinges, you will need to swap to 180-degree hinges before installing the rack.
