SV Port Rack

$1,699.00
Add-On's

Your driver-side rear door is prime real estate. The SV Port Rack turns it into a fully loaded accessory platform — bikes, Boost Box, spare tire, gear storage, whatever the adventure calls for.

Aluminum build, powder-coat black finish, mounts to the two bolt holes built into your Sprinter's 180° door hinges and the factory license plate location. Zero holes drilled in the door panel — if you ever swap vans, it comes off clean.

Fits: 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 & eSprinter · 144" / 170" / 170" EXT · High Roof
Requires: Factory 180° rear door hinges (not compatible with 270° hinges)

Not compatible with: Ford Transit · Ram ProMaster · Sprinter NCV3 (2007–2018)

  • Mounts to the 2 bolt holes in the factory Sprinter 180° hinges — no drilling through the door panel
  • 3/8" carriage bolt + 1/4" hole pattern — works with SV Boost Box, spare tire bracket, KUAT bike racks, and more
  • 100 lb load capacity
  • 1–2 hour DIY install with basic tools
  • Bump stops included — with a loaded rack, the door won't swing to a full 180°; bump stops protect the van body
  • Powder-coat black aluminum — built for coastal and off-road use

No drilling, ever. Most rear door racks that carry more than 100 lbs require drilling through the door panel to anchor into sheet metal — a permanent hole. The Port Rack uses the factory license plate mounting location and the 180° hinge bolt holes. Your door is never drilled and the rack is fully reversible.

Choose your variant: Select Port Rack + 180° Rear Door Hinges (Driver Side) if your VS30 or eSprinter doesn't have the 180° hinge upgrade yet — standard factory hinges, 270° hinges, and NCV3 door structures are not compatible. If you already have driver-side 180° hinges, order the rack only.

Product Details

Your driver-side rear door opens and closes every single day. The SV Port Rack puts it to work.

Designed specifically for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30, the Port Rack attaches directly to the factory 180-degree hinge bolts and the license plate area using holes that are already there. No new holes drilled into the door panel — if you ever upgrade or sell your van, the rack comes off without leaving a trace.

The face runs a 3/8" carriage bolt pattern alongside a 1/4" threaded hole grid, which means every SV exterior accessory mounts directly to it: the Boost Box storage system, the SV spare tire bracket, KUAT bike racks, surfboard mounts, and more. Aluminum construction keeps weight manageable and means rust is off the table, even after coastal drives or muddy Baja runs.

The Port Rack is one half of a complete rear door setup. The Starboard Rack (passenger side) uses the same attachment pattern and mounts the same way. Run both and your entire rear door width becomes active storage space.

If your Sprinter doesn't have 180-degree hinges yet, the bundle variant includes a driver-side hinge pair so everything ships together.

DIY FriendlyYes
Drilling RequiredNo (door panel intact — only the plastic license plate cover is drilled)

The Port Rack mounts entirely to the factory Sprinter door structure. The two attachment zones are the factory 180-degree hinge bolts and the license plate bracket area. Two people makes the hinge step easier, but one person with long arms can manage.

License plate backer

The only material you'll drill is the plastic license plate cover — 1/4" holes for the license plate bracket. Factory sheet metal is never touched. The backer plate uses VHB tape: line up all four bolt holes before the tape contacts the door because repositioning after contact is very difficult.

Hinge bolts

Snug is enough on the hinge bolts — the metal behind the door is thin and will deform if overtightened. Get everything hand-tight, check that the rack is visually square, then do a final tighten.

Bump stops

Large bump stop on the bottom hinge, small on top. They ride on factory holes in the hinge casting using cotter pins. Tap the pins in gently and leave them about halfway out — flush pins won't grip the bump stop. These stops prevent a loaded rack (bike, Boost Box, fuel can) from swinging all the way back into the van body.

Tools You'll Need

  • Impact driver with 9/16" socket
  • 9/16" wrench
  • 7/16" wrench
  • 4mm Allen key
  • T20 Torx bit
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Hammer or mini sledgehammer
  • Drill with 1/4" bit (for plastic license plate cover only)

How to Choose the Right Sprinter Rear Door Rack

The rear door on your Sprinter is underused exterior real estate. A rear door rack converts it into an active accessory mount — for bikes, spare tires, fuel cans, shovels, or a full storage box. Here's how to pick the right setup.

1. Which side do you need?

Most people start with the driver side (Port Rack). The license plate zone gives the rack a natural secondary anchor point, and driver-side access is typically the first priority for gear you reach frequently.

The passenger side (Starboard Rack) is the logical second rack for full-door coverage or if your cargo layout makes passenger-side retrieval more practical. Both racks run the same face pattern, so any SV accessory works on either side.

2. 180° hinges vs. 270° hinges — this matters for compatibility

The Port Rack requires 180° Sprinter hinges. The rack mounts to two bolt holes that are built into the 180° hinge design. Those holes are what make the no-drill attachment possible — they're the anchor point.

270° hinges use a different mechanism and don't have those same two holes. If you have 270° hinges, the rack cannot mount to them. Reach out to us at contact@sandyvans.com before ordering if you're not sure which hinges you have.

If your Sprinter doesn't have 180° hinges yet (most stock VS30s don't come with them from the factory), the bundle variant includes a driver-side 180° hinge pair so everything arrives together.

Door swing with a loaded rack: with 180° hinges and accessories mounted (bike, Boost Box, fuel can), the door won't open to a true 180°. The cargo contacts the bump stops before reaching full extension. That's intentional — the bump stops prevent a loaded rack from swinging into the van body. Plan your loading accordingly.

3. What are you mounting?

The rack face runs a 3/8" carriage bolt pattern and a 1/4" threaded hole grid. SV Boost Box, SV spare tire bracket, and KUAT bike racks all bolt directly in. Reach out at contact@sandyvans.com if you have a specific accessory in mind.

4. Load capacity and the no-drill trade-off

No holes in your door — ever. Most rear door racks that exceed 100 lbs anchor into the door by drilling through the sheet metal. The Port Rack uses the factory license plate mounting location — your door is never drilled and the rack is fully reversible. The 100 lb limit is the trade-off for keeping the door intact.

If your load consistently pushes past 100 lbs, reach out at contact@sandyvans.com.

5. Port Rack vs. Starboard Rack

Same aluminum build, same finish, same hole pattern. Differences: Port Rack anchors to the license plate zone (driver side, 100 lb capacity), Starboard anchors to the Mercedes emblem holes (passenger side, 150 lb capacity — the emblem holes are in a structurally stronger part of the door). Both are no-drill. Both are fully reversible.

Pre-order checklist

  • Your Sprinter is a 2019+ VS30 (144", 170", or 170" EXT)
  • You have 180° hinges — NOT 270° hinges (reach out if unsure)
  • You know whether you have the driver-side 180° hinges already, or need the bundle
  • You have a plan for the accessories you're attaching (total load under 100 lbs)

Questions? Call us at (619) 812-1903 or email contact@sandyvans.com.

Does the Port Rack require drilling into the door?
No. The rack mounts to the factory Sprinter door hinges and the license plate bracket area using existing factory holes. The only material you'll drill is the plastic license plate cover to accommodate the license plate bracket — the door panel and factory sheet metal are never drilled.
What year Sprinters does the Port Rack fit?
The Port Rack fits 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 models — 144", 170", and 170" Extended wheelbase, all with the factory 180° rear door hinge configuration.
Will it fit my NCV3 Sprinter (2007–2018)?
No. The Port Rack is designed specifically for the 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 and eSprinter. The NCV3 Sprinter (2007–2018) uses a different hinge design and a different door shape — the mounting geometry and anchor points don't match the VS30 structure. The rack will not fit NCV3 models, even if aftermarket 180-degree hinges have been installed.
Do I need 180° rear door hinges to use the Port Rack?
The rack installs fine without 180° hinges — it mounts to the factory hinge position regardless. The 180° upgrade is strongly recommended if you plan to carry bikes, the Boost Box, or heavy gear. A standard-swing door may not open far enough to clear a loaded rack. The bundle variant includes driver-side 180° hinges if you need them.
What accessories are compatible with the Port Rack?
The rack face runs a 3/8" carriage bolt pattern with a 1/4" hole grid. Compatible SV accessories include the Boost Box, the SV spare tire bracket, and KUAT bike rack brackets. If you have a specific accessory in mind, reach out to us at contact@sandyvans.com.
Can I install the Port Rack myself?
Yes. It's a DIY-friendly install rated at 1–2 hours with basic tools. The hinge step is easiest with two people, but manageable solo if you have long arms. A full install video and PDF manual are included.
Is the Port Rack compatible with RV and upfitter builds on the Sprinter chassis?
Yes, in most cases — provided your build uses the factory Sprinter rear door and VS30-style hinges. Reach out to us at contact@sandyvans.com with your coach model and we can confirm fitment.
Why is the load capacity 100 lbs when other rear door racks have higher limits?
The Port Rack mounts entirely to factory hardware — the license plate location and the factory 180° hinge bolts. No holes are drilled through the door panel at any point.

Most rear door racks that exceed 100 lbs achieve that higher capacity by drilling through the door to create a more rigid anchor in the sheet metal. That gets you more capacity, but it also puts a permanent hole in your door. If you ever sell the van or remove the rack, that hole is there.

The Port Rack's 100 lb limit is a direct result of its no-drill design. The license plate zone is the strongest factory anchor point on the driver-side door that doesn't require drilling, and 100 lbs covers bikes, shovels, storage boxes, and most Boost Box configurations. If your use case consistently pushes past that, reach out to us at contact@sandyvans.com.
Does the Port Rack work with 270° hinges? What's the difference from 180° hinges?
The rack mounts to two specific bolt holes built into the 180° Sprinter hinges. Those holes are the anchor point for the no-drill mounting method — they're what makes attaching a rear rack without touching the door panel possible.

270° hinges use a different mechanism and don't have those same two bolt holes, so the rack cannot mount to them. If you currently have 270° hinges and want to run a rear rack, reach out to us at contact@sandyvans.com before ordering.

One more thing to know: with 180° hinges and a loaded rack (bike, Boost Box, fuel can), the door won't swing to a true 180°. The cargo will contact the bump stops before the door reaches full extension. That's by design — the bump stops are there to prevent a loaded rack from swinging all the way back and hitting the van body. It's not a defect; it's the rack doing its job.
