When you live for the open road, some destinations just feel like they were made for van life. Two Capes Lookout, tucked between Cape Kiwanda and Cape Lookout on Oregon’s rugged coast, is one of those places. Our team recently packed up the vans and headed north to see what this glamping retreat was all about—and it did not disappoint.
The Drive In: Van Life at Its Best
One of the best parts of the trip? The drive itself. Cruising the Oregon Coast in our Sandy Vans meant we could pull off at scenic overlooks, stop for snacks with a view, and roll into Two Capes Lookout fully stocked and road-trip ready. Traveling in the vans gave us the freedom to make the journey just as memorable as the destination.
Where Nature Meets Design
Once you arrive, it’s clear this isn’t your average overnight stop. The retreat sits on 58 private acres where Sitka spruce forests open up to Pacific Ocean views. Accommodations range from modern Mirror Cabins—think floor-to-ceiling windows, heated floors, and reflective exteriors that blend right into the forest—to spacious Geodesic Domes with high ceilings, cozy heating, and private patios.
Our crew split up between cabins and domes to get the full experience, and both offered that perfect balance of comfort and adventure.
Life at Two Capes Lookout
Every detail is designed to make your stay seamless. From luxury linens and local Oregon-made amenities, to in-room coffee and tea stations, to propane fire pits for evening hangs, the vibe is equal parts cozy and elevated.
The best part? Minimal cell service but Wi-Fi throughout—just enough to share a sunset snap, but not enough to get distracted from being present.
Adventure Right Outside Your Door
We didn’t have to go far for adventure. Paddleboarding on the Nestucca River, hiking dunes at Cape Kiwanda, and catching sunset from the Cape Lookout trail filled our days. A short drive connects you to even more coastal gems like Sitka Sedge State Park, Whalen Island, and the historic Cape Meares Lighthouse.
When we weren’t out exploring, we were back at camp swapping stories around the fire, vans parked under towering spruce trees.
Stays That Give Back
What makes this place even more special is its commitment to the land. Every stay supports local watershed restoration projects through a partnership with the Nestucca, Neskowin & Sand Lake Watershed Council. Traveling in the vans already makes us feel closer to nature, but staying somewhere that actively gives back takes it to the next level.
The Takeaway
Our trip to Two Capes Lookout reminded us exactly why we build vans in the first place: freedom, connection, and the chance to experience places that stick with you long after you leave. Whether you’re in a Sandy Van or one of the retreat’s cabins or domes, this stretch of Oregon coast is worth putting on your adventure list.
