Product Details

A two-tone wheel that earns its looks

Most Sprinter wheel upgrades are about the look. The Gorge gets the look right, satin black with a bronze lip, and then backs it up where it counts on a loaded camper van.

It's a 17x8 flow-forged aluminum wheel built around the Sprinter's 6x130 bolt pattern, with a +38 offset set up to clear upgraded suspension. Each wheel is rated to 3,200 lb, so a pair carries 6,400 lb per axle, and it adds a bead retention ring and a valve stem protection neck for days when you air down.

Pair it with the KO3

Order the Gorge on its own, or as a package with the BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tire sized for your drivetrain: LT265/70R17 for AWD vans, LT245/70R17 for RWD. Tire packages ship mounted and balanced with a TPMS sensor installed. Running the 265s on a 2019+ van? Add the Sprinter Terrawagen Mondo Mudguards for front fender clearance.

Prefer all black?

The Canyon is the same wheel spec in satin black.

What's in the Box

  • Gorge 17x8 flow-forged wheel (x1)
  • BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tire, mounted and balanced (x1, tire packages only)
  • TPMS sensor, installed (x1, tire packages only)
  • Lug nuts
DIY FriendlyYes, bolt-on with basic tools
Drilling RequiredNo

The Gorge bolts straight onto the factory Sprinter hub. No drilling, no spacers, no changes to the van. If you can rotate your own tires, you can install these.

Before you start

Count your wheels. The Gorge is sold one wheel per unit, so a full set is 4, or 5 if you want a matching spare. Tire packages ship mounted and balanced with the TPMS sensor installed, so they go straight on the van. No tire shop visit needed.

Torque

Use the lug torque spec in your Sprinter owner's manual and tighten in a star pattern. Don't run lug nuts down with an impact at full power. Re-check torque after the first drive, as you would with any new wheel.

TPMS

The TPMS sensor comes installed in tire packages. Depending on your model year, the van may need a relearn before the warning clears. Tell us your year and model when you order and we'll make sure the sensor matches your van.

Clearance

The Gorge is sized so your tires clear without rubbing, and the +38 offset is set up to clear upgraded suspension components. The larger 265/70R17 tire on a 2019+ van can rub the front fender liner at full lock or full compression, especially on a lifted van. On 2019+ vans we recommend the Sprinter Terrawagen Mondo Mudguards, a bolt-on replacement that opens the front fender by more than 2 inches. Either way, turn lock to lock and cycle the suspension before you head out loaded, and reach out if you see contact.

Tools You'll Need

  • Floor jack rated for your van's weight
  • Jack stands
  • Lug wrench or impact with the correct socket
  • Torque wrench

How to choose wheels and tires for your Sprinter

New wheels and tires are one of the most visible upgrades you can make to a Sprinter, and one of the easiest to get wrong. Here's what matters, in the order customers ask us about it.

1. 2500 or 3500?

Not every Sprinter wheel fits every Sprinter. The Gorge is built for the Sprinter 2500, which uses a 6x130 bolt pattern.

The 2024+ eSprinter uses the same 6x130 pattern (its factory wheel is a 16x6.5 with a +54 offset).

How to choose: check the model badge on your van or the model listed on your registration. A Sprinter 2500 or a 2024+ eSprinter, and you're in the right place. A Sprinter 3500, single or dual rear wheel, and the Gorge is not the right wheel.

2. Load rating

A camper van is heavy, and wheels carry all of it. Every wheel on an axle must be rated for its share of that axle's maximum weight.

How to choose: find the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) on the sticker in your driver door jamb. Divide the heavier axle's rating by two. Each wheel's load rating should be at or above that number. The Gorge is rated to 3,200 lb per wheel, which covers an axle rated up to 6,400 lb.

3. Tire size and drivetrain

Bigger tires add ground clearance and a larger footprint in sand, but they also add weight, change your speedometer reading, and raise the chance of rubbing. Overall diameter math: 245/70R17 is about 30.5" tall (245 mm x 0.70 x 2 / 25.4 + 17). 265/70R17 is about 31.6" tall.

How to choose: match the package to your drivetrain. AWD vans get the LT265/70R17, RWD vans get the LT245/70R17. Compare that height against the tire size printed on your door jamb placard to see how much of a change you're making.

4. Offset and clearance

Offset controls where the wheel sits in the wheel well. A lower offset pushes the wheel out for a wider stance but brings the tire closer to the fender. A higher offset tucks it in.

How to choose: if you've upgraded or lifted your suspension, pick a wheel built for it. The Gorge's +38 offset is set up for clearance with upgraded suspension. On a 2019+ van running the 265s, add the Sprinter Terrawagen Mondo Mudguards to open up the front fender by more than 2 inches.

5. Construction: cast, flow-forged, or forged

Cast wheels are the most common and the heaviest for their strength. Fully forged wheels are the strongest and lightest. Flow-forged wheels start as a casting, then the barrel is spun and pressed under heat, which makes it stronger and lighter than a standard cast wheel.

How to choose: for a loaded van that sees dirt roads, flow-forged is the middle ground most builds need.

6. Trail features

If you air down for sand or rock, small details matter. A bead retention ring adds security for the tire bead at lower pressures, and a protected valve stem is less likely to get torn off on a rock or branch.

How to choose: if your van leaves the pavement, look for both.

7. TPMS, lug nuts, and quantity

Check what's in the box. Some wheels ship without lug nuts or sensors, and a set of four can turn into a set of five once you decide the spare should match.

How to choose: count your wheels before you order, and confirm whether sensors and hardware are included.

Pre-order checklist

  • Sprinter 2500, 2007 or newer, or a 2024+ eSprinter (not a 3500)
  • Door jamb GAWR divided by two is 3,200 lb or less
  • AWD or RWD confirmed, matching tire package picked
  • 2019+ van with 265s: Sprinter Terrawagen Mondo Mudguards in the cart
  • Quantity set to 4, or 5 with a matching spare

How the Gorge stacks up

  • Look: two-tone satin black with bronze lip (the Canyon is the all-black version)
  • Fitment: built around the 6x130 bolt pattern of the 2007+ Sprinter 2500 and 2024+ eSprinter
  • Load: 3,200 lb per wheel
  • Size and drivetrain: BFGoodrich KO3 packages for AWD and RWD
  • Clearance: +38 offset set up for upgraded suspension
  • Construction: flow-forged aluminum
  • Trail features: bead retention ring and valve stem protection neck
  • In the box: lug nuts with every wheel. Tire packages arrive mounted, balanced, and TPMS-equipped

Questions about your build? Email products@sandyvans.com or call (619) 812-1903.

Will The Gorge fit my Sprinter?
The Gorge fits the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500, 2007 and newer (NCV3 906 and VS30 907), including the 2024+ eSprinter. It does not fit any Sprinter 3500 (single or dual rear wheel), Ford Transit, or Ram ProMaster. If you're unsure about your van, email products@sandyvans.com with your year and model.
Should I pick the AWD or RWD tire package?
Match the package to your drivetrain. AWD vans get the BFGoodrich KO3 LT265/70R17 (about 31.6 inches tall). RWD vans get the KO3 LT245/70R17 (about 30.5 inches tall). If your van has a lift or other suspension changes, reach out and we'll confirm the right size.
Is The Gorge sold as a set or one wheel at a time?
One at a time. Each unit is one wheel, or one wheel and tire. Set the quantity in your cart to 4 for a full set, or 5 if you want a matching spare.
Does it come with lug nuts and TPMS sensors?
Every wheel includes lug nuts. Wheel-and-tire packages ship mounted and balanced with a TPMS sensor installed, ready to bolt on. The Wheel Only option does not include a tire or a TPMS sensor.
Will the tires rub on my 2019+ Sprinter?
The larger LT265/70R17 can contact the front fender on 2019+ vans at full steering lock or full suspension compression, especially when lifted. We recommend adding the Sprinter Terrawagen Mondo Mudguards, a bolt-on replacement that opens the front fender opening by more than 2 inches. Find it at sandyvans.com/products/sprinter-no-rub-front-fenders-for-2019-sprinter-by-agile-offroad
What load can The Gorge carry?
Each wheel is rated to 3,200 lb. To check your van, find the gross axle weight rating on your driver door jamb sticker and divide the heavier axle by two. If that number is 3,200 lb or less, The Gorge is rated for it.
Does The Gorge fit Sprinter-based RVs like the Winnebago Revel or Storyteller Overland?
It fits many Sprinter-chassis RVs and upfitter builds as long as the coach is built on a 2007 or newer Sprinter 2500. Many Sprinter RVs are built on the 3500 chassis, and The Gorge does not fit those. Fitment depends on your trim, suspension, and existing accessories, so send us your coach model and we'll confirm before you order.
Will The Gorge fit my eSprinter?
Yes. The 2024+ Mercedes-Benz eSprinter uses the same 6x130 bolt pattern as the diesel VS30 Sprinter, and The Gorge bolts on the same way. The eSprinter is rear-wheel drive, so pick the RWD tire package. Bigger, heavier all-terrain tires can trim some driving range on an EV, so factor that into your trip planning.
Can I get a different tire mounted on The Gorge?
Yes. If you want a different tire size or model than the BFGoodrich KO3, email products@sandyvans.com or call (619) 812-1903 and we'll put together a mounted and balanced package for you.
What's the difference between The Gorge and The Canyon?
Same spec: 17x8 flow-forged aluminum, 6x130, +38 offset, 3,200 lb per wheel, and the same BFGoodrich KO3 tire packages. The difference is the finish. The Gorge is two-tone satin black with a bronze lip, and The Canyon is satin black.
