Lock your keys in the van. On purpose.

The SV Below Deck Storage Locker sets into the rear quarter panel behind your Sprinter's rear tire, turning dead space into lockable exterior storage. The built-in combination lock means there's no extra key to carry: toss your keys inside, spin the combo, and head out to surf, hike, or ride without anything jingling in your pocket.

Fits: 2019+ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144" wheelbase, RWD and AWD.
Not compatible: 170" wheelbase, 2007-2018 NCV3 Sprinter, Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster.

Heads up: installing the locker means cutting an opening in your van's body. A template is included and the process is straightforward, but measure twice before you cut, or three or four times if you're not confident.

  • Built-in combination lock, so there's no key to carry or lose
  • Sits flush in the rear quarter panel behind the rear tire
  • Black powder-coated aluminum door and trim rings
  • Side-specific cutting template included
  • Sold individually or as a pair

Choose your side

  • Driver Side (1) or Passenger Side (1): one locker with the template for that side
  • Driver & Passenger Side (2): buy the pair and save compared with two singles. Most lockers like this only come in pairs. We sell singles too, so you can start with one side.

Product Details

There's nothing worse than a pocket full of keys

Heading out to surf, hike, or mountain bike means figuring out what to do with the van keys. The SV Below Deck Storage Locker solves it: a lockable compartment set into the rear quarter panel of your Sprinter with a built-in combination lock. Drop your keys inside, change the combo, and go. The van's locked, the keys are secure, and you're hands-free.

It's also a handy spot for things you'd rather not bring inside: hoses, recovery straps, tools, or camp gear.

Flush with the body

The locker sits in the rear quarter panel behind the rear tire, using space that's otherwise empty. The black powder-coated aluminum door and trim rings sit close to the body for a clean look.

One side or both

Most lockers like this are only sold in pairs. We sell the SV Below Deck Storage Locker individually for the driver or passenger side, or as a pair for less than two singles. Each locker comes with a template cut for its side.

This is a cut-in install: you'll cut an opening in the rear quarter panel behind the rear tire, prime the edges, and bolt the locker in. It's not hard, but some owners are hesitant to cut into their van. Measure twice before you cut, or three or four times if you're not confident. Plan on 3 to 4 hours per side.

Want a pro to do it? Email products@sandyvans.com or call (619) 812-1903 about installs at our San Diego shop.

Before you start

Clean the lower body behind the rear tire. Check that you have the template for the side you're doing; the driver and passenger templates are different. Before you drill, look behind the panel to make sure nothing is routed where you'll cut.

Placing the template

Tape the template to the body below and behind the rear wheel arch. The body has contours there, and the locker's trim ring is flat, so position the template in the flat area between the upper and lower contours. Move it until it sits flat, then tape it down well.

Drilling and cutting

Center-punch every hole marked on the template (punch marks keep the drill bit from wandering), remove the template, and drill the holes slowly and straight. Bolt the template back on loosely to trace the center opening, drill a couple of starter holes in the corners, tape around the outside of your line to protect the paint, and cut the opening with a jigsaw.

Finishing the opening

Grind the edges straight and clean up the corners until your marker line is gone. Hold up the trim ring to check that no bare metal will show past it. Deburr the opening and drilled holes, then prime every cut edge and hole so the body doesn't rust.

Mounting the locker

Fish the inner trim ring (it comes in a couple of pieces so it fits through the opening) inside the body, set the outer ring over it, and start a bolt to hold them together. Install the rest of the ring bolts with a 4 mm Allen key and an 11 mm wrench. Leave the hinge holes for last: the hinges use the longer bolts. Hang the door on the hinges, check that the gap is even and it closes and locks, then tighten everything down.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Cutting without measuring again. Check the template position three or four times before you drill or cut.
  • Placing the template over a body contour. The trim ring is flat and won't seal up against a curve.
  • Skipping the primer. Bare cut edges and drilled holes will rust.
  • Tightening the hinge bolts before the door is hung. Leave them loose until the door gap is even and it latches.
  • Expecting a dry box. The locker isn't weather-sealed, so store things that can handle some dust and road spray.

Tools You'll Need

  • Drill and bits
  • Center punch
  • Jigsaw
  • Grinder
  • Deburr tool
  • Primer
  • Painter's tape
  • 4 mm Allen key
  • 11 mm wrench
  • Eye protection

How to choose an exterior storage locker for your Sprinter

Exterior lockers add secure storage outside the living space. They differ in how they mount, how they lock, and how they're sold. Here's what to check, in the order customers ask us.

1. Cut-in or bolt-on?

Some lockers bolt to the bumper brackets with no cutting. Cut-in lockers like ours set into the body and use the dead space in the quarter panel, which keeps them flush and out of the way.

How to choose: If cutting into your van is a dealbreaker, look at bolt-on options. If you want a flush, low-profile locker, a cut-in model is the way to go.

2. Does it fit your van?

Lockers are built around a specific body shape. Most fit the 2019+ Sprinter 144" wheelbase, and the 170" has a different rear section.

How to choose: Confirm your model year and wheelbase before you buy.

3. Key or combination lock?

A keyed lock is one more key to carry. A combination lock lets you lock up your van keys and leave everything behind when you go surf, hike, or ride.

How to choose: If you want to go keyless on adventures, pick a combination lock.

4. Single or pair?

Many lockers are only sold in pairs. If you only want one side, or want to start with one, look for singles.

How to choose: Buy a pair if you'll use both sides; it usually costs less than two singles.

5. Weather sealing

Sealing varies a lot. Some lockers claim to be weather-sealed, others aren't sealed at all.

How to choose: Decide what you'll store. Keys, straps, hoses, and tools handle some road spray; electronics and clothing need a sealed box.

Before you order

  • Confirm a 2019+ Sprinter with a 144" wheelbase
  • Decide whether you're comfortable cutting the body (or plan a pro install)
  • Pick driver side, passenger side, or both
  • Plan what you'll store, knowing the locker isn't weather-sealed
  • Line up the tools: drill, jigsaw, grinder, deburr tool, primer, 4 mm Allen key, 11 mm wrench

How the SV Below Deck Storage Locker stacks up

  • Mounting: cut-in, flush in the rear quarter panel behind the rear tire.
  • Fitment: 2019+ Sprinter 144", RWD and AWD.
  • Lock: built-in combination lock, no key to carry.
  • Sold as: single (driver or passenger) or a pair for less.
  • Material: black powder-coated aluminum.

Questions? Email products@sandyvans.com or call (619) 812-1903.

Where does the locker mount?
In the rear quarter panel, behind the rear tire. You cut an opening in the body using the included template, and the locker bolts in with inner and outer trim rings.
Do I have to cut into my van?
Yes. It's a cut-in install. The template makes it straightforward, but measure two, three, or four times before you cut. If you'd rather not do it yourself, we install at our San Diego shop.
Will it fit my 170" Sprinter or my 2007 to 2018 Sprinter?
No. The locker fits the 2019+ Sprinter with a 144" wheelbase, RWD or AWD.
Should I get the driver side, passenger side, or the pair?
Each single locker comes with the template for its side. The pair includes both and costs less than buying two singles. Most lockers like this only come in pairs; we sell singles so you can start with one side.
Is it waterproof?
No, the locker isn't weather-sealed. It's great for keys, straps, hoses, and tools, but keep electronics and clothing inside the van.
Why a combination lock?
So you don't need another key. Lock your van keys inside while you surf, hike, or ride, and go hands-free.
What tools do I need?
A drill and bits, a center punch, a jigsaw, a grinder, a deburr tool, primer, painter's tape, a 4 mm Allen key, an 11 mm wrench, and eye protection. The template is included.
Will this fit my Sprinter-based RV, like a Revel or Storyteller?
The locker fits many Sprinter-platform RV and upfitter builds on the 2019+ chassis. Fitment depends on your trim level and existing accessories. Email products@sandyvans.com with your coach model and a photo before ordering and we'll confirm.
Do you install products for customers?
Yes. Many SV products can be professionally installed at our San Diego shop. Reach out to our team to schedule. Email products@sandyvans.com or call 619-812-1903.
What is your shipping and return policy?
