The Shoreline is a shore power bracket that gives your van a dedicated spot to plug in, without drilling a new hole in the body. It bolts to the factory hitch mount on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter, keeping your plug tucked away and accessible.

Product Details

The name comes from boats. When you pull up to the dock, you throw the shoreline to connect to shore power. We borrowed that idea for the van.

Instead of punching a new hole in the van body, the Shoreline bracket gives you a fixed access point on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter, bolted to the existing factory hitch mount. The 3/16-inch aluminum bracket uses the two factory tow package holes; no new drilling in the sheet metal. The included 15-amp plug and 16-inch pigtail sit inside the bracket housing, ready to connect to your charging system.

To be clear about what this solves: the bracket mounts without drilling a new hole in the van body. You still need to route your shore power wire from inside the van to this connection point. That wire run is part of your build. The Shoreline handles the mounting location so the wire has somewhere solid and clean to land.

We added the Anderson plug option after repeated builder requests. It adds a second port to the same bracket, wired independently, with an Anderson SB50 connection for a dedicated solar array input or secondary power source. Two inputs, one clean mount point.

The Shoreline mounts in under an hour with basic hand tools. Everything you need is in the box.

On the driver-side rear of your Sprinter, find the factory tow package bracket at the side wall of the hitch. There will be a zip tie holding factory wiring against it. Snip that zip tie and push the wiring aside to expose the two mounting holes.

Align the Shoreline bracket with the factory holes. Run a 3/8-inch bolt from the outside with a washer behind the bracket, then add a washer and 3/8-inch nylock nut on the inside. Tighten snug. Repeat for the second bolt.

With the bracket mounted, route your shore power wire from inside the van to the plug pigtail. The routing depends on your build; use an existing grommet, conduit run, or add a weatherproof grommet near the hitch area. Connect the pigtail, then zip-tie any loose wiring up away from moving parts.

Anderson plug version: the second port wires independently. Connect it to your solar charge controller input or auxiliary power source per your build's wiring plan.

1. 15 Amp or 30 Amp?

Most house outlets and standard extension cords run 15 or 20 amps. If you plan to plug in at home, a friend's place, or any standard outlet, the 15-amp Shoreline is the most compatible choice. A 15-amp circuit can fully charge a 200Ah lithium battery bank overnight through most inverter-chargers.

Choose the 30-amp version if your inverter-charger has a 30-amp shore power input, if you camp frequently at RV parks with full hookups (NEMA TT-30 is the campground standard), or if your system load has outgrown what a 15-amp circuit can recover in a reasonable time.

Not sure what your system supports? Check your inverter-charger spec sheet for the shore power input current rating.

2. Standard Plug or Anderson Plug Option?

The standard Shoreline is a shore power plug with pigtail and bracket. That covers most builds.

The Anderson plug option adds an Anderson SB50 port to the same bracket, wired independently from the shore power circuit. It is for builders who want a dedicated exterior port for a second solar array or any secondary input they currently route through a door gap or temporary connection. If you are running a cable through a cracked door for a secondary input, the Anderson option replaces that with a weatherproof fixed port.

3. Is My Van Compatible?

The Shoreline mounts to the factory tow package on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter. Without the factory tow package, the standard mount will not work. The bracket can be adapted to other mounting points with custom fabrication; reach out to our team at contact@sandyvans.com if you are working with a non-standard setup.

4. What About Wiring?

The Shoreline solves the plug location. The wire run is still part of your build. Before ordering, plan how your wire gets from the interior to the driver-side rear. Many builders route it alongside existing conduit or add a weatherproof grommet near the hitch area. If your walls are not yet closed, this is the right time to run the wire.

Use 12-gauge wire for a 15-amp circuit. Thicker wire reduces resistance over longer runs and gets more of your available amperage to the batteries.

Does this mean I don't need to drill a hole in my van?

The bracket itself mounts to your Sprinter's existing factory tow package holes; no new holes in the van body are needed for the bracket. You still need to route your shore power wire from inside the van out to this connection point. How you do that depends on your build: some vans have existing grommets or conduit runs you can use; others need a small penetration. The Shoreline handles the plug mounting location cleanly. The wire run is part of your overall build.

What is the difference between the standard plug and the Anderson plug option?

The standard Shoreline includes the shore power plug, pigtail, and bracket. The Anderson plug option adds a second connection port using Anderson SB50 connectors, wired independently from the shore power circuit. It is for builders who want a dedicated exterior port for a second solar array, an auxiliary input, or any secondary power source they currently route through a door gap or temporary cable. The two connections operate on completely separate circuits.

Does my van need the factory tow package?

Yes, for the standard mounting method. The bracket bolts to the side wall of the factory hitch assembly on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter. Without the factory tow package there is no mounting point. That said, the bracket can be adapted to other mounting locations with custom fabrication; reach out to our team at contact@sandyvans.com if you are working with a non-standard setup.

What wire gauge should I use?

For the 15-amp Shoreline: 12-gauge wire minimum (14-gauge is the code minimum, but 12-gauge performs better over longer runs). For the 30-amp Shoreline: 10-gauge wire minimum. The thicker the wire, the less resistance over the run and the more of your available amperage actually reaches the batteries.

What can I connect the shore power plug to?

Once you have routed your wire, the pigtail connects to the AC input on your inverter-charger (such as a Redarc BCDC or similar), your shore power input bus, or directly to your charging system's AC inlet. The exact wiring depends on how your system is designed; your inverter-charger documentation will show the shore power input connection point.

How does this compare to the 30-amp Shoreline?

Same bracket, same factory hitch mount, same install process. The 30-amp version uses a NEMA TT-30 plug (the standard at most RV parks and campgrounds) and requires 10-gauge wire instead of 12-gauge. Choose the 30-amp version if your inverter-charger accepts a 30-amp AC input or if you frequently use campground hookups.
