Product Details

Stop cooking on the ground

The SV Overland Kitchen Galley is built for overlanders, vanlifers, contractors, race teams, festival camps, hunters, tailgaters, and anyone who's tired of a folding table and a tippy stove. It's a complete kitchen that lives in your rig and slides out when you stop.

Everything in one unit

Up top there's a full bamboo prep surface with a Dometic sink and faucet. Underneath, a 3-gallon water tub feeds the sink, and two LP bottles run a range that slides out to the side when you're cooking. LED lighting wraps the outside and inside of the unit and runs off a Milwaukee M18 battery, so there's nothing to wire into your van's electrical.

A small drawer on the outside holds utensils and the faucet head. When you're done, stow them, and push the whole galley back in.

Built to work as hard as your rig

The galley is all aluminum with a matte black finish. Closed up, the top doubles as a bench or a platform to stack gear on in a truck bed, so it doesn't steal usable space.

Two sizes

The Orville is 48 inches long for the most counter space. The Banzai is 36 inches long and fits the back of our Scout layout as well as SUVs like the Grenadier and 4Runner.

What's in the Box

  • Overland kitchen galley (Orville 48" or Banzai 36")
  • Integrated Dometic sink and faucet
  • 3-gallon water tub
  • Slide-out LP range

How the galley mounts depends on your rig: van floor, truck bed, trailer or SUV cargo area. There's no printed manual yet. Reach out to our team with your vehicle and layout and we'll walk you through mounting options, or have us install it at SV HQ in San Diego.

Once it's mounted, there's no plumbing or wiring to your vehicle: water comes from the onboard 3-gallon tub, cooking runs on two LP bottles, and the lights run on a Milwaukee M18 battery.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Measuring only the floor. Check the length and the height of your cargo opening against the size you pick.
  • Picking the 48" for a small SUV. The 36" Banzai is the one that fits SUVs like the Grenadier and 4Runner.
  • Cooking with the range tucked in. Slide the range out before you light it.

How to choose an overland kitchen

Here's what to think through, in the order customers ask us.

1. Will it fit your rig?

The galley comes in two lengths. The 48" Orville suits full-size vans, truck beds and trailers. The 36" Banzai fits the Sandy Vans Scout layout and SUVs like the Grenadier and 4Runner.

How to choose: Measure your cargo area length. 48 inches or more of usable length: Orville. Less: Banzai.

2. Is it self-contained?

Many camp kitchens still need a separate water jug, stove and lantern. This one has its own sink and faucet, 3-gallon water tub, LP range and battery-powered LEDs.

How to choose: If you don't want to plumb or wire anything into your vehicle, pick a fully self-contained unit.

3. How rugged is it?

Plastic camp gear rattles apart on washboard roads. The galley is aluminum with a heavy-duty slide.

How to choose: If you'll drive dirt roads, choose a metal unit that also works as a bench when closed.

4. How much prep space do you need?

The Orville's extra 12 inches is more room to chop, plate and stage.

How to choose: Cooking for a group: Orville. Cooking for one or two in a smaller rig: Banzai.

Before you order

  • Measure your cargo length and opening height
  • Have a Milwaukee M18 battery for the lights, or plan to get one
  • Plan for two LP bottles
  • Remember this is a pre-sale with no ship window yet
