Product Details

Same factory-hitch mount as our original Shoreline, expanded to 30 amps for builds that need more headroom. The NEMA TT-30 30-amp plug is the standard connection used at most RV parks and campgrounds, so if you spend time plugging in away from home, this is the version to run.

The bracket is the same 3/16-inch aluminum construction, powder-coated black, bolting to the factory hitch assembly on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter. No new holes in the van body for the bracket itself. You still need to route your wire from inside the van to this connection point; plan on 10-gauge wire for a 30-amp circuit.

To be clear about what this solves: the bracket mounts without drilling a new hole in the van body. Getting the wire to it is still part of your build.

The Anderson plug option adds a second Anderson SB50 port to the same bracket, wired independently from the shore power circuit, for a dedicated solar array or auxiliary power source.

The Shoreline mounts in under an hour with basic hand tools. Everything you need is in the box.

On the driver-side rear of your Sprinter, find the factory tow package bracket at the side wall of the hitch. There will be a zip tie holding factory wiring against it. Snip that zip tie and push the wiring aside to expose the two mounting holes.

Align the Shoreline bracket with the factory holes. Run a 3/8-inch bolt from the outside with a washer behind the bracket, then add a washer and 3/8-inch nylock nut on the inside. Tighten snug. Repeat for the second bolt.

With the bracket mounted, route your shore power wire from inside the van to the plug pigtail. The routing depends on your build; use an existing grommet, conduit run, or add a weatherproof grommet near the hitch area. Connect the pigtail, then zip-tie any loose wiring up away from moving parts.

Anderson plug version: the second port wires independently. Connect it to your solar charge controller input or auxiliary power source per your build's wiring plan.

1. When Does 30 Amp Make Sense?

The 30-amp Shoreline is for builds running larger inverter-charger setups, builds that regularly use campground hookups (NEMA TT-30 is the RV park standard), or any system where the 15-amp charge rate is a bottleneck. If your inverter-charger accepts a 30-amp AC input, you are leaving charging speed on the table with a 15-amp connection.

If you mostly plug in at home or standard outlets and your system is modest, the 15-amp version may be all you need. Check your inverter-charger shore power input spec before deciding.

2. Standard Plug or Anderson Plug Option?

The standard 30-amp Shoreline is the plug, pigtail, and bracket. That is all most builds need.

The Anderson plug option adds an Anderson SB50 port to the same bracket, wired independently, for a dedicated solar array or auxiliary input. Add it if you want a clean weatherproof exterior port for a second power source.

3. Is My Van Compatible?

The Shoreline mounts to the factory tow package on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter. Without the factory tow package, the standard mount will not work; the bracket can be adapted with custom fabrication. Contact us at contact@sandyvans.com if you are unsure.

4. Wiring for 30 Amps

A 30-amp circuit requires 10-gauge wire minimum; longer runs benefit from 8-gauge. This is heavier wire than the 15-amp version, so account for that when planning your run. You still need to route the wire from inside the van to the hitch location; plan that run before your walls close.

Does this mean I don't need to drill a hole in my van?

The bracket itself mounts to your Sprinter's existing factory tow package holes; no new holes in the van body are needed for the bracket. You still need to route your shore power wire from inside the van out to this connection point. How you do that depends on your build: some vans have existing grommets or conduit runs you can use; others need a small penetration. The Shoreline handles the plug mounting location cleanly. The wire run is part of your overall build.

What is the difference between the standard plug and the Anderson plug option?

The standard Shoreline includes the shore power plug, pigtail, and bracket. The Anderson plug option adds a second connection port using Anderson SB50 connectors, wired independently from the shore power circuit. It is for builders who want a dedicated exterior port for a second solar array, an auxiliary input, or any secondary power source they currently route through a door gap or temporary cable. The two connections operate on completely separate circuits.

Does my van need the factory tow package?

Yes, for the standard mounting method. The bracket bolts to the side wall of the factory hitch assembly on the driver-side rear of your Sprinter. Without the factory tow package there is no mounting point. That said, the bracket can be adapted to other mounting locations with custom fabrication; reach out to our team at contact@sandyvans.com if you are working with a non-standard setup.

What wire gauge should I use?

For the 15-amp Shoreline: 12-gauge wire minimum (14-gauge is the code minimum, but 12-gauge performs better over longer runs). For the 30-amp Shoreline: 10-gauge wire minimum. The thicker the wire, the less resistance over the run and the more of your available amperage actually reaches the batteries.

What can I connect the shore power plug to?

Once you have routed your wire, the pigtail connects to the AC input on your inverter-charger (such as a Redarc BCDC or similar), your shore power input bus, or directly to your charging system's AC inlet. The exact wiring depends on how your system is designed; your inverter-charger documentation will show the shore power input connection point.

How does this compare to the 15-amp Shoreline?

Same bracket, same factory hitch mount, same install process. The 15-amp version uses a standard NEMA 5-15 plug (compatible with any household outlet or extension cord) and 12-gauge wire. Choose the 15-amp version if your system's shore power input is 15A or if you primarily plug in at home or standard outlets.

Can I upgrade from the 15-amp Shoreline to the 30-amp?

The bracket mounts the same way, so you would not need to re-drill anything. However, upgrading the circuit means replacing the plug and rewiring with 10-gauge wire (30A requires heavier gauge than the 12-gauge used for 15A). It is not a simple plug swap.
